Another year almost over...

Wow! So much has been going on in our lives lately, and I have had no time to blog! I won't promise I will do so more, because everyone knows that always ends up said in vain. I will say that I will make a better effort, though. Christmas is past, and the new year awaits. Let's hope for a wonderful year full of amazing blessings!

My injured superhero and a brave little boy

Wow, it's been forever since I've posted anything here! So much has happened and between summer vacation, school, and kids- yeah, I haven't had any time.

This past weekend has been the worst in my entire life! I was getting the kids ready for a sleepover at my mother-in-law's house when I recieved a phone call from my brother. He said "Em, Dad shot himself" and it was like the entire world had just crashed down on top of my head. We didn't have any information surrounding what actually happened, and only knew that he was being flown down to Tucson. It was about an hour later that my sister and her husband arrived, and we all took off for Tucson. That was the longest drive EVER! We still didn't have much information, and just tried to make it there as fast as we could.

By the time we arrived in Tucson, the waiting room was already filling up with family and friends. At that point, we knew that he was stable and we were able to go in and see him, one at a time. It was horrible seeing my dad, who has always been like a superhero to me, like that. He was talking a little, but not much that was coherent. It was so hard not to let him see me cry.  It was so scary.

Thankfully, the bullet missed all vital organs, arteries and (hopefully) nerves. His left humerous is broken pretty badly. He is probably going to have a difficult few months as his bone heals. It was a complete accidental discharge, and I bet he's going to dispose of that gun very soon!

I don't know what I would do without my father. He is such an important part of my life, and I truly hope he recovers quickly. He is going home today, with my sister going with them to help take care of him. I wish I could be right there with him every step of the way. I had to come home yesterday, however, as the demands of my own life needed addressing, such as my little boy starting kindergarten! It was difficult for me missing his first day of school, but I was so torn between being there for him or being there for Dad.  He had a wonderful first day, and Charles did such a great job making sure everything went smoothly for him. But, tell you what, it was so difficult watching him get on that school bus this morning. I can hardly wait for 4:00 to roll around so I can have my baby boy back in my arms! He was so full of stories last night, and I am looking forward to hearing all about his day today :)

The Lord has his reasons

Last week I went in for my 11 week ultrasound to determine exactly how far along we are and check the baby's heartbeat. They were unable to find a heartbeat and the measurements weren't adding up right. So, they scheduled us for another ultrasound for one week later. Unfortunately, we didn't make it that long. I had to go in to the OB/GYN today for an emergency ultrasound. Turns out we were pregnant with twins but had a missed miscarriage. The babies passed about six weeks ago.

As hard as this is to deal with, we are just thankful for the love and support of our families and our ward family. We understand that the Lord has his reasons, and that everything will work out in the end. We were able to receive a beautiful priesthood blessing this evening, and despite the physical pain I am dealing with, feel amazingly at peace.

I am so thankful for the gospel and its influence on our family!

I am FINALLY getting with the times!

Yes, I know. It is hard to believe that we are just now starting this. We hope we can keep up with it, and give our families and friends a way to keep up with our lives.
